Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Science are poised to drive transformative solutions for sustainable development across Africa. As AI transitions from narrow applications to general-purpose technologies, and quantum computing moves from labs to pilot projects, Africa must define its governance, workforce, and data strategies early. Bali Swain highlighted how AI methodologies,such as, machine learning, natural language processing, and optimization, are being harnessed for climate resilience, healthcare, agriculture, energy optimization, and economic inclusion, while also emphasizing responsible deployment that considers ethics, local contexts, and social equity. She also emphasised policy and governance for a responsible acceleration of sustainable development and the strategic importance of AI and Quantum Science in Africa.
