New research | Solid outcomes in finite games

How can one predict what decisions people or organizations will take in strategic interactions? J枚rgen Weibull, Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics at SSE, and co-authors have introduced a way to more robustly and precisely predict what people are likely to do in situations where their decisions depend on what others might do鈥攍ike in market competition, business negotiations, politics, or everyday social settings.

New research | Personality traits and cognitive ability in political selection

Finnish politicians are on average more intelligent, motivated, and honest than the general population. Jaakko Meril盲inen, Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics at SSE, and co-authors show in a new study that both local and national politicians demonstrate higher cognitive and non-cognitive abilities, suggesting that voters and parties effectively select capable leaders.

Johanna Wallenius appointed new member of the Finnish Economic Policy Council

Johanna Wallenius, Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics at SSE, has been appointed member of the Finnish Economic Policy Council. The appointment starts beginning of April, 2025.
