Ivar Tengbom, the Architect Behind the Building at Sveavägen
SSE Art Initiative welcomes all students, faculty and staff to this afternoon lecture on Ivar Tengbom (1878-1968) and the building he designed for the º£½ÇÉçÇøÏÂÔØat Sveavägen 65, which was finalized in 1925.
The guest speaker , Associate Professor in Architectural Theory and History at KTH, has written a monograph on Tengbom. In his words, there is in the architect's work continuously "an urge to combine a rational approach to the arts and crafts with the architectural principles of the classical tradition."
How are these elements made evident in the building at Sveavägen? Bergström will enlighten us as to the ideas of the architect and guide us through its conception into what we see, and interact and work in today.
The lecture will be held in English. Warmly welcome!
